Hello, Hello, Hello!!! How are you guys? I hope you all doing well. I am so excited to be here to share my first-ever experience with my "Current Issues in Teaching" class. Our teacher assigned us a task that really caught my attention. I enjoyed every minute of doing it, so let's get into it.

First of all, I wasn't alone in this journey. My friends Alperen and Pelin were my groupmates. We created all of this together, and I think we did a great job.

Our assignment is to create a material and a lesson plan integrated with the corpus relevant to the unit "Movies" using Canva. Our target audience for this assignment is high school students in the preparation year. You can access our material and lesson plan via our links. Our material is based on the corpus "COCA."

Preparing the material was enjoyable because I was already familiar with the corpus, making it easy to create helpful resources. Once the material was ready, developing the lesson plan became straightforward, as everything was clear and well-structured.

I would like to use corpus in my future lessons as an English language teacher. I believe that since corpus helps to reach authentic language, it has massive benefits for students. However, it is not straightforward to implement in class because it requires lots of training about both the corpus and the technology. So, if I use it,  I will ensure that all my students are ready and suitable.

In conclusion, as in every other area, using corpus in language learning has lots of pros and cons. However, once we train our students for it beforehand, it is a really effective way of teaching language because it gives a valuable glimpse into authentic language, which is crucial for their language development.

That’s all for now—stay tuned for the next post!
